Now that summer is on the way, spending time outside will be more fun. It's the perfect season to soak up the sun. But, the current pandemic has limited many to just staying at home. This may be a big dilemma for some, but if you have a patio on your property, the quarantine blues won’t apply to you. It's a nice spot to chill and enjoy the warm weather while still following the social distancing rules. That said, your patio may need to be spruced up for it to be more enjoyable to stay in. Trying different things for an upgrade is great, but there are a few simple tricks that can make just as much of an impact. To help you out, here are some tips. Sweep RegularlyLeaves from your or your neighbor's yard will eventually land on your lot and become litter. Get rid of them frequently to maintain the overall cleanliness. You can also try to turn this into a routine so you won't forget to do it. Regularly sweeping the patio will also prevent small weed seeds from germinating. You won't have to deal with them when they spread across your backyard if you don't let them grow to begin with. Power Wash Stubborn SpotsEven if you regularly sweep your patio, there are times when there will be some stubborn spots left. This can be easily resolved by using a power washer. For best results, many homeowners use a mixture of warm water and liquid detergent. You can also try out floor cleaners; just make sure that they're acid-free. You don't need to do this daily. Most people leave it as a monthly maintenance chore. This way, you'll keep everything clean while still conserving water. Weed Out Wild Grass and WeedsDamaged patio pavement that has plenty of wide cracks is susceptible to weed infestation. If you spot some, get rid of them as soon as you can. Pull them out by the roots to prevent them from growing back again. Repair the CracksLastly, check your patio for any signs of damage like cracks, and if you find any, have them repaired. This will prevent them from developing into bigger problems. As soon as they're fixed, use the right concrete sealer for enhanced protection from moisture, including concrete joint sealant where applicable.
